Mental health is an amorphous term to many. Important distinctions include distinguishing mental health and mental wellness. Mental wellness is defined by the WHO as “a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community.” Thus, wellness is not just the absence of illness, but includes affirmative mental faculties and functioning. Mental wellness is important to enterprises, where creativity and cohesion in teams has a measurable impact on performance and productivity.
